About Me
From 2010 to 2012, I worked in Rwanda as a Princeton-in-Africa Fellow with Generation Rwanda-Kepler and later with the Global Engagement Institute (formerly Eos Visions). While in Rwanda, I maintained this blog, which is now just a historical description of my experience. I no longer maintain this blog but I have left it up as a reference for people looking for information on Rwanda. I monitor the comments sporadically and do my best to respond when possible. Thank you for your interest in my website and in Rwanda!

These are gorgeous!
Thanks Galaxy!!
These are fabulous – extremely beautiful and emotive. I’d also be interested to see the antonyms of each of the photographs – city life, challenges local people face, etc etc. Keep up the great work!
Best wishes,
Kate
These photos are really wonderful. I look forward to following your blog.
Great work Helaina
[…] you would like to see and read more about living in Rwanda, check out the charming blog A Year+ in Kigali, Rwanda by Helaina. I particularly liked her posts here (about the language) and here (culture) and […]
Loved the photos and they brought back wonderful memories.
Hello
My name is Kate Frenson and I recently found your website about beautiful Rwanda. I noticed your website some time ago and I wanted to give you some feedback. You give a chance to learn something more about Rwanda. Your website is really interesting and show the modern face of your country. I think also that your website could be more popular with adding more basic and simple information. I thought that you could be interested in adding more info about culture of Rwanda. It could attract more people to come and see Rwanda in flesh and also make your website more popular in Google search results. Maybe you could be interested in adding a link to http://www.everyculture.com/No-Sa/Rwanda.html ?. Please let me know what do you think about that.
Thank you,
Kate Frenson
Beautiful photos, Helaina- Thanks for sharing! I love all the scenes, colors, and that baby gorilla’s crazy hair-do!
Thank you for the pictures. There is a church outside Kilgali that needs roof. I understand that it is active in supporting orphans. Can you tell me what help they may receive? If it makes sense to respond, thank you for your help.
This is really wonderful.
Hello Helaina,
I’m interested in using one of your images for a conference in Rwanda. Is this something you would consider? If so, please contact me! Thank you kindly,
Nicole
